Longmont City Council - Budget Review - Summary

Written by Administrator

The study session on Tuesday, July 20, was short:

  • No one addressed council on the budget.
  • At least one person spoke in favor of cannabis shops; she has fibromyalgia and other illnesses and reported that without cannabis she could not get out of bed.
  • Another gentleman wanted the city to have a booth at Heaven Fest, which they agreed to do in conjunction with LAVA.
  • The owners of Trigger Time, the new shooting range east of town spoke and asked the city to consider using Trigger Time for the officers and their training.  In addition, the city has said they will open the new city and county owned range to the public.  Trigger Time is concerned about how that will impact their new business, which has only been open about 5 months, and that it will put a burden on Trigger Time. The city manager said that the city needs and requires their own space, and that the Boulder County Sheriffs are going to share the space at the composting facility east of town.
  • There was also a comment about the car show this weekend.
  • The city has hired a company to power wash the sidewalks on Main Street and the breezeways.  The company they have contracted with recovers the water so no waste will go into the drains.
  • Sara Levinson was not in attendance as she had been in a wreck in Boulder and the Mayor asked that we keep her in our thoughts.  Thursday is Mayor Baum’s birthday and we sang happy birthday to him at the request of Katie Witt.
